That's the Robbie Burns version, not Steinbeck. On the other hand, Steinbeck took his title from Burns... but you know what I mean. Planned to go out today and climb Whernside and Ingleborough: instead, woke up with a head cold and a stiff back after too much gardening yesterday. So it's an 'at-home' day instead. Still, there's plenty of preparation to do, so it's not wasted time. Sponsorship money has started to come in on the Justgiving site, with people being generous as usual, so that's encouraging.
